Samuel Patrick Stephenson, 93, formerly of Darien, Ill., died peacefully, Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his home in Joliet, Ill. surrounded by family.
Sam was born March 5, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio, youngest of two sons of Earl and Auta Patrice Wagner Stephenson and in 1951 married Doris Marie Vogel at Holy Cross Catholic church, Cleveland, Ohio to which union were born four children. Sam worked as an accountant first at Cleveland Diesel, Cleveland, Ohio and then at the Electro-Motive (EMD) division of General Motors, LaGrange, Ill. retiring in 1992 after 42 years.
Sam is survived by three children Eric Martin Stephenson, Mayville, Wis., Dru Ann Stephenson, Darien, Ill. and Scott Michael (Jan) Stephenson of Joliet, Ill.; six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Stephen Michael Stephenson, one son, Mark Allen Stephenson and step-mother, Ruth Hauck Stephenson.
