It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Mitchell VanHaelewyn, 79 of Elmhurst Illinois. Russ passed away peacefully June 27th, 2024, surrounded by family. He was the devoted husband to Lynn (nee Larsen); beloved father of Christine Pinta; very proud grandfather (Grampy Bear) to Pauly, Abby, & Jack; and uncle to Janis Pietras (Peter) and Heather VanHaelewyn. He was preceded in death by his beloved father and mother Mitchel J. & June E. VanHaelewyn; dear brother Valier, sister Pearl, brother-in-law Jack Goodman, and deeply adored dog Piper.
Russ was born, 9/29/1944, and raised on the north side of Chicago, graduated CVS high school, and married his high school sweetheart Lynn. Very soon after starting a family, they moved to Elmhurst. He maintained a strong work ethic throughout his entire personal & professional life.
