James "Jim" B. McGovern passed away January 19, 2024. Born on March 18, 1952, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Jim brought immeasurable warmth and joy to the lives of all who knew him.
Jim's dedication to helping others was evident through his decade-long volunteer work at UChicago Medicine-Advent Health LaGrange Hospital. His enthusiasm for life shone brightly in his love for train spotting, sports, and animals. An avid reader and history buff, Jim's knowledge and curiosity were as boundless as his ability to make friends and support them in any way he could.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Dorothy, Jim is lovingly remembered by his sister, Carol McGovern. His selflessness defined him, and his absence will be profoundly felt by many. Jim's charismatic spirit will be dearly missed, but his profound impact on the community will forever be cherished.
